We divided our markets at Postmates into four tiers. I matched them to string instruments to create a bit of a non-standard string quartet. Tier 1 = Violin, Tier 2 = Viola, Tier 3 = Cello, Tier 4 = Bass. This is looking at 1 week.
Each note represents when that tier hit another X deliveries (held constant), the pitch is determined by the average price of goods purchased, the velocity is determined by the average delivery time, and the dynamics are determined by the average distance (all values are capping off the top and bottom 2%). The dynamics are sampled every minute of the week, so they're constantly changing throughout the piece, while the notes are only striking when a tier hits another X deliveries.
There are two versions, simple and complex. The data is identical between the two, the only difference is that the complex track is utilizing a feature of my sample library that changes the articulation played by an instrument depending on the context, and also introduces a bit of uniqueness per note to make it sound more human. The simple version is just using one articulation (a long bowing) for every instrument.
